I look out the window as we pass by our local clothing store.

Woah, that jacket looks so cool, I thought.

It’s black and green colors mix so nicely.

It looks so soft and warm like I could cuddle up in it all night

while it kept me safe from the harsh monster of reality.

The urge to buy it quickly emerged from the depths of my soul.

But when I looked up at my parents

I knew they were already saying no.

They shot disapproving looks at me.

And as each one hit, I got sadder and sadder.

We continued on walking, my head low.

God, I’m so selfish, aren’t I?
