Portrait of Hope

Is there a word for the light that glitters off broken glass?

For bright smiles at tables?

Laughs that fill whole rooms?

Hugs so encompassing we become one with each other?

Is there a word for entwined hands?

Glittering eyes?

Soft light through the window

giving you a soft hug

every morning?

Is there a word for what it feels like

to turn into a star?

The rush of dopamine in your brain?

The laughs that make you lose your breath

and your sides hurt?

Is there a word for freshly fallen snow

on a Wednesday morning?

How the sun captures its glitter

like stars in the sky

as you make your way to class?

Is there a word for hot chocolate

warming up your hands?

For 6pm sunsets?

Rural King popcorn

and cooing at rabbits?

Dead DJ Tables

and drawing animals on whiteboards?

Is there a synonym for hope?

I wish there was.

I would write it on this postcard.

On this wall.

On this mirror.

Is there a word for that?

The act of placing hope gently

into your hands?
